Don't miss the star-studded season finale of Not Your Ordinary Sports Show: BudNorris & more
When Houston Texans right tackle Eric Winston decided to start his own online sports TV network, many outsiders wondered how long it would last. After all, pro athletes are notorious for dabbling in — and then quickly losing interest in — various ventures.
But Not Your Ordinary Sports Show — the signature show of THEBUS network (pronounced Thee-bis) didn't just last the whole NFL season with Winston providing football analysis (and non-football analysis) with an eclectic mix of guests every Monday night. It's set to come back for more.
After it goes out with a regular season bang first.
For the last regular season broadcast of Not Your Ordinary Sports Show (shown every Monday night in the video module on the front page of CultureMap) brings a star-studded cast of guests to verbally joust. How about Houston Astros ace Bud Norris (whose big strikeout nights might be the only reason to watch the 'Stros in 2012), former Houston Oiler Bubba McDowell, Green Bay Packers Hall of Famer Greg Koch and Windsor Village UMC Senior Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell (George W. Bush's spiritual advisor) all on the same show?
Koch will step into the hosting chair with Winston practicing for the Texans' Thursday night game against Indianapolis. 610 AM's Robert Henslee will be in his usual role, keeping the show moving.
Not Your Ordinary Sports Show is certainly set up for a memorable Season One finish (just click on the video above this story to watch). Not that it will be over when this show is over. For THEBUS team is already planning for some type of NFL postseason broadcast — possibly even multiple broadcasts.
But first, the regular season finale. Not Your Ordinary Sports Show (which is meant to be watched as companion viewing to the game) goes out on one of the very best Monday Night Football games of the year too — a matchup between the 10-3 Pittsburgh Steelers and the 10-3 San Francisco 49ers. This game could end up having a big impact on the Texans' playoff fate (for Houston to get a first-round bye, the 49ers might need to win this one).
