Hospital supporters wrap up the holidays with a $1.45 million gift at glamorous party
Texas Children's Hospital Ambassadors are experts at elegant entertaining and tops in generous giving as witnessed at the annual holiday party, a glamorous affair held at the River Oaks home of Lindsay and Rand Holstead. The evening capped off a year of fundraising that resulted in a gift of $1.45 million to the hospital.
More than 600 supporters made merry in the beautiful home and overflowed into lavishly decorated party tents where City Kitchen provided the made-to-order paella and ravioli and the Greg Giacona Quartet delivered pop tunes and sounds of the season.
The revelry was not without its serious side as Carol and Mike Linn, chairs of the hospital's new Promise Campaign, presented a moving tribute on the work of Texas Children's and then as ambassadors of good cheer presented Dr. Charles Hankins, chief medical officer of the new Texas Children's Hospital in The Woodlands, with the seven-figure check.
But that wasn't all of the giving. By night's end guests had filled the oversized box, dressed like a Christmas present, with T-shirts, socks and undies for the young patients.
City Kitchen provided the sweet conclusion to the evening with a tempting array of desserts that included shot glass portions of pecan pie and chocolate mousse, holiday themed cookies, petit fours and cake balls.
Savoring the night's delights were Leigh Ann and John Raymond, Laura Bellows and Jack Pendergrast, Nancy and Jim Gordon, Sybil Roos, Jan Duncan, Lilly and Thurman Andress, Barbara and Corby Robertson and Melissa and Brad Juneau.
