Joyful Toyful celebration once again fills Gigi's Asian Bistro with tons of toysand holiday spirit
Loads of toys for the kiddos and two hot toys for the grown-ups — the scene was holiday bountiful at Gigi's Asian Bistro and Dumpling Bar for the annual Joyful Toyful celebration.
While oodles of sparkling new toys were collected, along with $150,000 in donations, to provide Christmas cheer for underprivileged children, Platinum Motocars tempted gold-plated Santas with a shiny Lamborghini Superlegerra and Maserati Turismo, anchored just outside the doors of the Galleria eatery.
Carol Sawyer and Edie Saville chaired the festive evening that was completely underwritten by ever-gracious hostess, restaurateur Gigi Huang. For their long-time support, Gigi and Andy and Dr. Del Delery took bows as the evening's honorees.
Generous guests collected 6,000 toys for the children of Boys and Girls Harbor, Casa de Esperanza de los Ninos, Our Lady of Guadalupe School (whose choir entertained guests with caroling), the Forge for Families and Volunteer Houston.
Popular KTRK Channel 13 morning news anchor Tom Koch served as emcee and auctioneer, encouraging the 250 guests to part with serious dinero on behalf of the children.
Relishing the holiday spirit and the yummy Asian fare from Gigi's kitchen were David Nguyen, Benny Black, Brenda Koch, Omana Abraham, Warner Roberts, Sue and Lester Smith, Julie and Dr. David Brown, Janet and Fred Warhlich, Linda Brown, Selma Kehoe, B.J. Dauterive, Courtney Somerville, Paul Somerville, Kristina Hornberger, Bruce Padilla, Chris Kase and Evie Melcher.
