CIS scores big with dinner
Even without former First Lady Laura Bush as guest speaker, the Communities in Schools 30th anniversary dinner would have been a stellar success. How can you go wrong with an organization that has a long-standing, proven record of keeping troubled kids in school?
It was a powerhouse turnout at the Hilton Post Oak that included CIS national president Elaine Wynn of Las Vegas and CIS founder Bill Milliken.
Franelle Rogers and Linda Gale White, on board with CIS from the days when her husband Mark White was Texas governor, chaired the evening that raised more than $500,000. The event honored attorney Barrett Reasoner and H-E-B, both long-time CIS supporters.
The impressive turnout included Ann and Charles Duncan, Janiece Longoria and Steve Lasher, Debbie and Vidal Martinez, Soraya and Scott McClelland, Barbara and Charles Hurwitz, Cherie and Jim Flores, Maria and Neil Bush, Bobbie Nau and Dana and Bill Hurt.
