Unveiling of sporty new Cadillac ATS Coupe fuels a rockin' party scene
The sleek showroom of Sewell Cadillac on the Katy Freeway became party central Tuesday night when the car manufacturer unveiled its ATS Coupe for a sporty crowd that wined, dined and dreamed of driving off in the hot new sports car.
Cadillac introduced the four-door ATS to much fanfare last year. With the 2015 model, the even sportier two-door version received loads of "oohhs" and "aahhs" from auto aficionados in the crowd. As regional marketing manager Tom D'Angelo out of Dallas noted, "The car literally just hit the showrooms and we're trying to get some people excited about it and give them a nice event."
Nice event indeed. The entertainment featured dueling DJs and gourmet offerings from area restaurants. Vallone's, Eddie V's, Capital Grille and Jasper's each presented heavy appetizers as waiters circled through offering wine and beer.
More than 100 car fans — owners of the original ATS, Cadillac owners and guests of sales associates — attended the event, similar to ATS Coupe events taking place at flagship dealers across the country. In fact, tonight Ron Carter Cadillac in Friendswood is hosting a blowout complete with Molly and the Ringwalds performing. Details here.
Clearly, Sewell knows how to throw a party and how to sell cars. In Houston for only five years, Sewell Cadillac is already No. 10 in the nation in car sales and sales manager Pat Atwood said he expects that ranking to rise this year.
The party crowd included Dr. Michael Yafi, who drove over from his Medical Center residence in his Porsche and expressed a curiosity about the new Caddy. Also in the mix were Amy and Tom Baiker, Patissa Mohajer, Michael Pearson, Gerard Johnson and Darcelle Hill, Caitlin Saunders, Sara Reynolds and Helen Yanci with Lonnie Turner.
