Alley Theatre patrons learn You Can't Take It With You at pre-performance dinner
Nothing like a tasty light supper and the camaraderie of like-minded theater patrons to kick off an evening at the Alley. Just ask well-heeled supporters and sponsors invited to enjoy a pre-performance dinner before settling into the theater for a night of laughs with You Can't Take It With You.
More than 200 theater buffs assembled in the Fondren Rehearsal Hall where Alley artistic director Gregory Boyd shared insights on Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, the playwrights who created the Pulitzer Prize-winning classic, directed for this run by Sanford Robbins.
City Kitchen put on the scrumptious buffet spread that featured fricassee of chicken with wild mushrooms and roulades of roasted New York sirloin stuffed with cabbage and gruyere and a tempting lemon meringue cheesecake. That satisfying prelude to the performance was capped off for the bold-faced crowd with a post-performance champagne reception with the evening's cast.
Savoring the jovial evening were Molly and Ford Hubbard, Patty Hubbard, Connie and Roger Plank, Lynn Wyatt, Jennifer Smith and Peter Ragauss, Jane and Dean Gladden, Charles Hall, Margaret Alkek Williams and Jim Daniel, Barbara and Mark Brookner, Gracie and Bob Cavnar and Carmen and Butch Mach.
