Young and the restless heat up the summer night at MFAH outdoor dance bash
Snow cones spiked with vodka, now there's a refreshing solution to the August heat. It seemed to work for the 1,170 mid-summer night's revelers who turned out at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston Saturday for the Mixed Media, Designed by IKEA, outdoor frolic.
Hipsters grooved through the late-night party scene that brought the Lillie & Hugh Roy Cullen Sculpture Garden to life. When famed party boy Jonathan Toubin of New York commandeered the turntables, it was dance floor delirium with his '45 spins of funk and soul.
Maintaining a cooler-than-cool note was popular ice carver Reverend Butter, whose chain saw roared away as he created truly chilling ice furniture. Nice.
Keeping the music alive all night long were DJs Ceeplus Bad Knives, Omari Jamal and Damon Allen.
Slupring on libations from Kona Ice truck and beating the heat were Megan Supple, Tanya Khalaf, Rafael Alvarez, Matt Jones, Emily Scarborough, Jing Zhang, Mark Kelly, Eric Zimmerman, Rachel Cook and loads more.
