A circus party: Kalon McMahon, Erica Rose, stripper reporter Sarah Tressler anda dunk tank collide
Organizers had promised that Thurday night's Party in Pink at Hotel ZaZa was going to be THE bash of the summer. And, yes, the benefit for the Susan G. Komen Foundation hit the partytime jackpot with Erica Rose and Kalon McMahon getting dunked, exotic dancer Sarah Tressler playing nice girl and chef Philippe Schmit and Channel 11 news anchor Lily Jangselling kisses.
Reservations soared past the 500 limit well in advance of the doors opening on the poolside party that was so awash in fashion shades of pink that CultureMap's Sarah Rufca observed that the surreal tableau was like a pink Oz.
But not all were unhappy with Kalon. "He's much better looking in person. I like him on the Bachelor Pad. He's funny," cooed one Kalon groupie.
Beyond the richest people-watching in months, this party scene included models in party clothes from Tootsies wandering through the crush on stilts, synchronized swimmers in the pool, a fortune teller and circus characters including a vertically-challenged ring master, a magician and women with whips, presumably to tame the wild party animals. More models wearing Cavalli, Camilla and Alice and Olivia sashayed across the pool bridge while the Don Vaughn drums blasted in time with tunes from the DJ.
Think hot, think pink, think killer vibes. The Pink Flirt cocktails (vodka, champagne and pineapple juice), pink Veuve Clicquot and watermelon gazpacho in shot glasses kept this crowd lubricated as did the cash bars where there was no shortage of call drinks.
For those needing sustenance, there were booths offering flavored popcorn, a hot dog stand, passed lobster pops, Sprinkles cupcakes and more.
High entertainment for partygoers was centered on the dunking booth where Bachelorette bad boy Kalon was the first to take the dousing for charity. For the record, Houston magazine publisher Peter Remington threw the first successful pitch. Kalon's Bachelor Pad nemesis Erica tried to do the honors but failed while a long line of young women, who confessed to taking female revenge, had their success tossing the tennis ball.
