10 femmes and one young man honored for community service and leadership
Philanthropist, publisher, pediatric cardiac sonographer and social forceConnie Kwan Wong celebrated the first anniversary of her CKW Luxe magazine with a glam bash in the penthouse of Mosaic on Hermann Park high-rise. In addition to the mag bash, the evening saluted 11 individuals with Wong's Star Awards.
The festive gathering featured music by Ars Lyrica; taste treats from Davis Street at Hermann Park, Edible Moments and Macaron by Patisse; and presentation of dreamy jewels from Joe Vilaiwan, who flew in from Beverly Hills for the party.
In addition, lucky guests were the recipient of more than $15,000 total in door prizes, ranging from a CKW crystal clutch filled with Houston Grand Opera tickets to a private yacht charter from the Yacht Sales Company.
The 2016 Star Award honorees, recognized for community service and leadership, were Dr. Susan Osterberg, Phyllis Williams. Dr. Anne Shen Chao, Gracie Cavnar, Cynthia Petrello, Leona Chen, Simone Biles, Chloe Choudhury, Tarun Srinivasan, and youngsters Sean Gilmore, son of U.S. District Judge Vanessa Gilmore, and Bradlee Few, daughter of Arvia and Jason Few. Also taking bows was Cindi Harwood Rose, film producer and founder of the Holly Rose Ribbon Foundation.
The party cast truly represented Houston's vibrant rainbow coalition beginning with KHOU Channel 11 news anchor Lily Jang as emcee and including Alex and Astley Blair, Mary and Dr. Mark D'Andrea, Christine Delon, Chloe Dao, Frederico Marques, Cecile Tindlund, Teresa and Dr. William Reading, Jason Walsh, Gregg Harrison and his son, Max.
