Girlfriend love rocks Brennan's: Just for fun, the ladies lunch for GracieCavnar's May Day
"It's rare that we're together without an agenda," cooed Gracie Cavnar as she looked over the gathering of friends on the patio at Brennan's on Tuesday. Indeed, on this rare day, there was no bottom line other than Gracie's explanation, "I need an injection of girlfriend love."
The boundlessly energetic founder of Recipe for Success launched her annual May Day luncheon some years back with a handful of girlfriends. After a two-year hiatus, the midday party was back with 60 friends each wearing, as the invitation suggested, her "most glorious hat."
The invitation summed up Gracie's motivation for the luncheon, "Girlfriends are the glue of life. Thank you for helping me hold it all together."

For the fully feminine celebration, tables were dressed in floral linens and centered with bountiful spring bouquets by John Friedman. Since Brennan's recovery from the Hurricane Ike fire, the patio is lush and green with mature oaks providing ample shade.
And with that the ladies poured in — Lynn Wyatt, Laurie Morian, Carol Linn, Susan Krohn, Karen Mayell, Franci Crane, Yvonne Cormier and more. A handful of those from the original May Dey fete were in the mix including Mary Fay Way, Denise Bush Bahr, Phyllis Hand, Lynda Transier and Janie DeGuerin.
