Major gift is cause for big celebration at University of Houston School of Art fundraiser
What:University of Houston School of Art graduate scholarships fundraiser.
Where: In the UH Louise J. Moran Fine Arts courtyard and the Blaffer Art Museum.
The 411: While ticket sales and sponsor contributions added up to $30,000, it was the news shared by UH School of Art director Rex Koontz that brought applause and champagne toasts. He announced that the Joan Holt Wich Fellowship Endowment would add $500,000 to the endowed graduate scholarship funding. Happy news for all including event chairs Annie and Campbell Eifler and Sydney and Robert Eifler.
A number of graduate students were on hand to discuss their works that were on display in the 37th annual Masters Thesis Exhibition. They included Daniela Antelo, Laura Fletcher, Daniel Haas, Seth Lapeyrouse, Melinda Laszczynski, Evan Lee, Margaret McMillan, Sebastian Montes, Eric Ockrassa, Caroline Roberts, Caroline Sharpless and Jason Wheeler.
Who: Applauding the student artwork were guests including Paul Brockman, president of the Joan Hohlt and J. Roger Wich Foundation, as well as Jereann Chaney, Krista Dumas, Carey Shuart, Nancy Luton, Susie and Sanford Criner and Gus Kopriva.
