Former Houston Oiler Cody Carlson shares his heartfelt story at luncheonbenefiting The Center
Nine years after retiring from his role as Houston Texans quarterback, Cody Carlson and wife Barbara had plans to adopt a healthy baby. But the child was born six weeks early and was disabled due to the premature delivery. Cody shared the story of raising their now 9-year-old son with a sellout crowd of more than 400 at The Center Houston benefit luncheon.
The Center serves more than 700 adults with intellectual disabilities at residential facilities on West Dallas and at Willow River Farms.
Kari Gonzales chaired the luncheon at River Oaks Country Club that raised more than $200,000.
Listening with rapt attention to Cody's story of personal strength, commitment and love were Center board chair David Baldwin, John Dagley, Elizabeth DeLuca, Monica Bailey Bickers, Kelli Kickerillo, Tana Wood, Kim Moody, Jennifer Shepherd, Stephanie Shanks, Paula Paine and Gretchen McFarland.
