Woman Power
Top corporate leader links global networking organization with Houston women executives
At last, Houston women in business have breathed a sigh of happiness as Sallie Krawcheck has introduced her power-generating women's executive organization, Ellevate, to Houston.
Considered one of the most successful and influential executives in financial services, Krawcheck bought 85 Broads in 2013 and changed the name to Ellevate to better describe the organization as a global professional women's network dedicated to the belief that women are an under-tapped resource in the business world and dedicated to the economic engagement of women worldwide.
More than 150 women turned out at the JW Marriott Downtown for the launch of the Houston chapter of Ellevate. This brings them into a membership network that stretches around the world to include 40 chapters with women representing more than 130 countries.
Krawcheck mesmerized the women professionals with her keynote address that covered her high-level executive positions with Citigroup and Bank of America. She inspired women with her observations on making "quick comebacks" and learning how to fail with grace while building a career.
The launch of the networking organization in Houston, led by Jennifer Roosth who first learned about 85 Broads while in graduate school in London, opens the door for newly-inspired networking, mentoring and education and professional development programs.
Among those attending were Shushana Castle, Lynn Zeid, Laurel Ross, Trinh Abrell, Miri Wilkins, Mathilde Leary, Magen Pastor, Darien Ward, Luanne Jones and Marian Jacobs. Jones.
