6 cool new Asian restaurants wow diners at west Houston's hottest shopping destination
A West Houston shopping center has announced more tenants as it seeks to become a dining destination. NewQuest Properties has revealed six new tenants for West on West, its 10-acre development at 12220 Westheimer Rd.
The new restaurants, dessert shops, and a boba tea shop include places that are new to the Houston market or opening their first location inside the Houston city limits. They are:
- The Alley - A Taiwan-based boba tea shop
- Kaiten-sushi Ginza Onodera - A conveyor-built sushi restaurant
- Lady M - The Japanese bakery known for its decadent crepe cakes
- Paris Baguette - A South Korean bakery and cafe known for its cakes, pastries, croissants, and breads
- SomiSomi - Los Angeles-based dessert shop that serves Ah-Boong, a Korean dessert served in a cup or TaiyakI, a fish-shaped waffle cone
- Tsujita Artisan Noodle - A Tokyo-based ramen shop that specializes in dipping noodles
The Alley, Paris Baguette, and Tsujita Artisan Noodle are expected to open this fall. SomiSomi will follow before the end of the year. Lady M will open in spring 2024 with Kaiten-sushi Ginza Onodera not expected to debut until 2025.
Both Tsujita Artisan Noodle and Kaiten-sushi Ginza Onodera are making their Houston-area debuts. The sushi restaurant is intended to be a less expensive sibling to Sushi Ginza Onodera, a group of upscale restaurants that hold one Michelin star in New York and two Michelin stars in Los Angeles.
They’ll join West on West’s already-announced tenants, including Asian grocery store 99 Ranch; a third Houston location of Gen Korean BBQ Houston, the popular, all-you-can-eat restaurant; and Japanese retailer Teso Life.
“We’ve been thrilled by the leasing trajectory at West on West and are eagerly awaiting the debut of what will be a wonderful new amenity in this west Houston community,” NewQuest partner Heather Nguyen said in a statement. “We also feel given the eclectic mix of unique and first-to-market businesses that this center will become a destination for Houstonians and visitors seeking unique experiences.”
