Stylish Houston healthy eating restaurant sprouts up in River Oaks with breakfast, juices, and fresh fare
A healthy eating restaurant has a new home in the River Oaks area. Green Fork and Straw opened its new location Monday, July 10.
Located at 3601 Westheimer Rd., Green Fork’s new location replaces an outpost on S. Shepherd Dr. The tidy, 1,200-square-foot store features a mural of vegetables painted by Annavy Phelan.
Known primarily for catering to a range of diets, including vegan, gluten-free, paleo, keto, and others, the restaurant’s menu offers a range of salads, bowls, and breakfast items that are designed to be taken to go. It aspires to offer healthy meals that don’t compromise on flavor.
Green Fork also offers a fresh juice and blending bar. Customers may order at the counter or pick up prepared items from refrigerated cases.
Founded in New Orleans in 2010, owner Blair Kern brought his parents’ concept to Houston. The business evolved out of a home-based operation to its current three locations in River Oaks, Tanglewood (6401 Woodway Dr.), and the Heights (303 W 19th St).
“We’re out here doing what we love, and the response from the community has been so much more than I could have imagined,” Kern said in a statement. “I am very excited to showcase our new space for our customers to enjoy. They deserve this the most.”
