Look out, Trader Joe's: Sprouts Farmers Markets eyes Houston with three newstores
Houston has seen an influx of new grocery stores lately: Two (soon to be three) Trader Joe's, the first of 30 Aldi stores headed to Katy, new Phoenicia Specialty Foods and Georgia's Farm to Market concepts downtown, plus a handful of new Whole Foods Markets.
Now another grocery chain is making inroads into Houston. Sprouts Farmers Market is a Phoenix-based natural foods store that offers "a unique mix of natural, organic and great tasting mainstream foods," with 150 locations across the southwest United States, including in Dallas, Austin and other parts of Texas.
Now the company has announced plans for three stores in the Houston area to open in 2013, with the potential for more.
Sprouts has signed leases to open stores in Katy at 23105 Cinco Ranch Blvd., in the Copperfield Village Shopping Center on Highway 6 at FM 529 and in Spring Cypress Village at FM 249 and Spring Cypress Road, ranging in size from 25,000 to nearly 30,000 square feet.
Have you ever been to Sprouts? What did you think?
