Houston restaurants offer pink discounts & drink deals in breast cancer fight
There's a reason October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It's the second most common cancer diagnosis in women, and the second deadliest cancer as well.
So while everyone may now know what those pink ribbons stand for, the increased awareness and funding helps save women's lives.
During October, a handful of restaurants around town are getting in the pink. Here's how to make a difference by dining out:
-51Fifteen Restaurant & Lounge, inside Saks Fifth Avenue, is offering a special four-course dinner all month for $40, donating $5 per meal to the Susan G. Komen Foundation Houston Chapter.
-Sullivan's Steakhouse is also offering a prix fixe menu of a starter, entree, side and dessert all for $39.95 and will be donating $5 per meal to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. With 20 steakhouses around the United States, Sullivan's is guaranteeing a donation of at least $50,000 by October 31 — last year they gave $170,000.
-When dining at Fleming's Steakhouse, order the new Stoli Bombshell martini — for the month of October, 100 percent of sales from the drink benefit the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade.
-Want more pinkalicious drinks? Stop by Baker Street Pub & Grill locations and try the Jack's Pink Bull, Rose Rita, and French Kiss cocktails. Through the end of the month, a portion of the proceeds go to the Breast Cancer Charities of America.
-Crave Cupcakes is offering a "Crave a Cure" topper on strawberry, dark chocolate and vanilla cupcakes until Oct. 10 with all proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Not to be out-cupcaked, Sprinkles Cupcakes is offering a strawberry pink ribbon cupcake till Thursday, with all proceeds donated to the Entertainment Industry Foundation's Women's Cancer Research Fund.
-All month long Houston-area Panera Breads will donate 25 cents from every Pink Ribbon Bagel (with cherry chips, dried cherries and cranberries, vanilla, honey and brown sugar) sold to the Memorial Hermann Breast Care Centers.
