Trattoria Il Mulino says ciao: NY spot can't make it in Texas, but closing leadsto new restaurant
New York's historic Il Mulino has successfully replicated its authentic Italian-American concept across the country, but it just didn't take in Texas.
Despite being named Houston's best meatball at the first-ever My Table competition, the Trattoria Il Mulino concept inside the newish Westin Houston Memorial City has shuttered after just over a year, as first reported by B4-U-Eat.
The space is still in full swing, though, with the kitchen transitioning to a new restaurant called 024 Grille. Promising the "atmosphere of a local bistro and the classic tradition of a Texas steakhouse," 024 is keeping the comfortably stylish furnishings of the previous concept while serving up brick-oven pizza, burgers and sandwiches at lunch and a mix of steaks and seafood at dinner.
The spacious adjacent lounge keeps the name 024 as well (that's the end of the hotel's zip code, FYI) and will serve bar bites in addition to offering the full restaurant menu.
