Popular Galleria-area happy hour hot spot unveils new name, new look, and new menu
One of the Galleria area's most popular happy hour spots has a new name, a new look, and a new menu. The Uptown Park location of McCormick & Schmick's is now M&S Seafood, Steaks & Oysters, owner Landry's Inc. announced.
“It was time for McCormick & Schmick’s to modernize our look and logo,” Howard Cole, Landry's restaurant division COO, said in a statement. “We have a great new menu and mixology program that is geared towards sustainability, guest experience, and engagement while delivering exciting new flavors and textures.”
As one example of sustainability, M&S Seafood sources its signature Johnny Shucks oysters from proprietary beds in the Chesapeake Bay. Staples like bass, salmon, and cobia are also procured from sustainable purveyors.
Inside, diners will find an updated interior that features white marble walls, updated lighting, and expanded seating in the bar area. Overall, the almost 7,700-square-foot restaurant now seats 122 in the main dining room, 81 in the bar, and more than 80 split between its two patios. Ultimately, the M&S branding will roll out to the other Houston-area McCormick & Schmick's, too.
“In renovating this space, our goal was to make this location one of the most comfortable and inviting dining settings in Houston,” Cole added. “M&S Seafood, Steaks & Oysters’ new look creates the perfect setting for any business dinner, family gathering, or special occasion.”
Expanding the bar should prove popular with the happy hour crowd. Served daily from 3:30 pm to 7 pm, it offers a range of bar bites priced from $3.50 to $9.50, including truffle fries, Baja fish tacos, ahi tuna poke bowl, and shrimp avocado toast. Drink options run the gamut with beers priced $5 or less, wines by-the-glass priced at $6.50 and $8.50, and cocktails priced between $7 and $9.
Changing McCormick & Schmick's into M&S Seafood is only the latest change to the dining at Uptown Park. The mixed-use development has also added the Houston area's first Flower Child and seen Uptown Sushi reopen after an extensive series of renovations. California-based sandwich shop Mendocino Farms and a new project from J. Alexander's Holdings are both on the way, too.
