Zelko Bistro Shutters
Heights neighborhood restaurant closes as owners look to future in Bellaire
Ever since a for lease sign appeared in front Zelko Bistro two weeks ago, diners have wondered what the future holds for the popular Heights neighborhood restaurant. On Wednesday, the answer became clear.
Owners Jamie and Dalia Zelko announced that Zelko Bistro will close as they turn their attention towards the cafe they're opening at Evelyn's Park in Bellaire. That restaurant, which will be named based on an idea submitted during a contest, will open later this year and serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks to park goers.
“We are very thankful to the Heights and to the support we have had over the past six years, and are excited for our next chapter in Evelyn’s Park,” said Dalia Zelko in a statement. “We are thrilled to be a part of such a meaningful project that is sure to positively impact this generation and generations to come. We look forward to continuing to immerse ourselves into the Bellaire community.”
Zelko's email does not indicate when exactly the restaurant will close, but it could be very soon. Realtor Mike Huff, who represents Zelko's landlord, confirmed it is currently operating on month-to-month terms.
Update: A representative confirms that Zelko Bistro has permanently closed.
