Downtown will soon be home to a new, elevated dining experience. Strato 550 will open its doors on June 24, the restaurant announced.

Named for its altitude — it sits 550-feet above ground on the 43rd floor of 1415 Louisiana (known locally as the Wedge International Tower) — Strato 550 serves a Mediterranean-inspired menu designed to appeal to downtown executives looking for a more refined lunch experience than what they'd typically find in the tunnels. Those meals take place in a stylish room that features contemporary furniture, but the primary appeal will likely be the view offered by the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Executive chef Evan Parker comes to the restaurant after stints at both Melange catering and Tiny's No. 5. Food service company Compass Group operates the restaurant.

Starter options include grilled artichokes, chilled cauliflower soup, and charcuterie boards. Salads may be turned into entrees by adding a protein (chicken, fish, or shrimp). Other entree options include sandwiches as well as heartier entrees that range from scallops with lentils and Spanish chorizo ($23) to a filet mignon of Texas beef from 44 Farms with roasted fingerling potatoes ($35).

In addition to lunch, the restaurant operates as a lounge from 4-7 pm. Diners can sip on a selection of wine, beer, or cocktails while snacking on a limited selection of dishes from the lunch menu, such as charcuterie boards.

Separate from the restaurant, Strato 550 also offers four meeting rooms for groups of various sizes. Custom menus are available.
