Rap legend starts his own food blog: Finally, a celebrity website worth something
Bun B has put his name on many a cause (think his "It Can Wait, Houston" PSA with Mayor Annise Parker and his involvement with the "Houston Is Hip" campaign), but his latest awareness-raising endeavor caters to a distinctly "foodie" crowd.
This week marked the soft launch of You Gotta Eat This!, a new interactive blog from the Houston-based rapper and SneakerTube.tv creator Premium Pete, which features restaurant recommendations, recipes and more from culinary stars like Philip Speer, executive pastry chef and culinary director for Uchi Restaurants, plus submissions from food-loving contributors like you.
Bun B announced the new project at during a media breakfast in the Blaffer Art Museum's Fancy Pants tent at Free Press Summer Festival on Saturday, a four-course creative affair for which he partnered with Speer as part of the museum's "Feast: A Dinner Series."
For that pre-fest breakfast, Uchi's offerings included "Choppin' Blades," a fried pork chop topped with green eggs and crystal lettuce; "Bun," a pork belly bun with a side of pickles and herbs; "Country Shit," a sweet and savory chicken karaage served with smoked potato salad and sweet chili; and "I'm Cold," an ice cream dish served with Cap'n Crunch and dehydrated berries — and Bun B performed a corresponding hip-hop song with each course.
