Pappy's on the move
Beloved Memorial-area comfort food restaurant sets moving date to new location

It's official. Pappy's Café is on the move.
For 34 years, the beloved Memorial-area comfort food restaurant has operated at 9041 Katy Freeway, but the location is set to close March 31. On April 5, Pappy's will open at its new location in a former Texas Land & Cattle at 12313 Katy Freeway, approximately five miles west of the current location. The restaurant shared its plans to move last year, and March 27's announcement makes it official.
"After so many years, there’s a lot of sentimentality surrounding the original location – but we’ll still be serving up that same old-fashioned charm and classic Texas comfort food our guests have always known and loved,” said Pappy’s Café owner, Paul Braden, in a statement. “We invite our loyal customers and Memorial Village community to come on out and say their farewells to the original Pappy’s, have a great meal and share some memories before the big move.”
Although it will be a bit of a drive for current Pappy's regulars, the new location offers significant advantages, including more room, better parking, an expanded bar area, and two private dining rooms. The current staff and menu will remain the same.
Attempting to predict the future in the restaurant business is even more foolish than picking a NCAA bracket, but Pappy's track record of success at its current location speaks well of its ability to cater to its customers' needs. Hopefully, the new location will allow it to live on for many more years to come.
