Pappy's on the move
After 34 years, comfort food favorite plans move to larger location down the freeway

A beloved Memorial-area restaurant will be making a big change next year.
Pappy's Cafe announced Monday that it will be moving to a new location in 2018. For 34 years, the Texas comfort food restaurant has operated at 9041 Katy Freeway, but owners Paul and Lydia Braden couldn't come to terms on a lease renewal. Therefore, they're taking over a former Texas Land & Cattle at 12313 Katy Freeway, approximately five miles west of their current location.
“We know there will be a lot of sentimentality with customers who have grown up patronizing Pappy’s for 34 years at the current 1-10 and Campbell location,” said Paul Braden in a statement. “But we hope our guests are excited for what the next chapter holds and will continue to dine with us at our new home. We may be changing addresses, but we’ll still have the same old-fashioned Pappy’s charm that our customers know and love.”
When it opens next year, the new Pappy's will feature the same staff and menu that have made the original a local favorite but with a larger footprint that will include more parking, an expanded bar area, and two private dining rooms. The current location will remain open until construction is complete. While customers may be concerned about losing the original's charm, Braden expresses confidence that it's going to be a positive change.
“This transition will let Pappy’s live on for many more years to come,” he said.
