A downtown dining boost: Korean fusion restaurant fast tracks a Texas Avenue opening
As Houston tries to reignite its downtown dining scene, Kobecue Grill — a fast casual, Korean fusion restaurant — is the latest to take the leap with a storefront at 1001 Texas Avenue (at Main Street).
Although the Houston-based chain only recently signed a lease for the spot, founder David Lee tells CultureMap that Kobecue is on a fast-track to open its second location. An anticipated opening date has been set for late February or early March.
"We felt it was a natural step to be in an area that has a lot of daytime traffic," Lee explained of the decision to go downtown.
He said that the restaurant will offer the same menu as the Richmond Avenue restaurant — one that is by most accounts pretty tasty — with counter service, indoor and outdoor seating and beer and alcohol.
Kobecue Downtown will be open for lunch and dinner, Monday through Saturday.
