Toss that ancient iPad 2
Innovation overload: Why releasing the iPad 3 and iPhone 5 will backfire onApple
Hold onto your outdated technology, gadget geeks. It's that time of the year again. It's Apple envy time.
This fall, tech titan Apple will ritualistically sprinkle some of its device dust on starry-eyed fanboys. The white box warrior plans to release not one, but two new versions of its most popular devices — the iPhone and the iPad.
You heard that right. Both devices are getting an upgrade that doesn't stop at software. So what we're saying is, both of your favorite Apple products will be rendered obsolete by January.
The imminence of a new iPhone in August (or maybe September?), colloquially known as the iPhone 5, is no surprise to those of us paying attention at home. Rumored to feature a faster processing chip and an eight megapixel camera, the fifth iPhone packs a punch that'll hit the iPhone 4 squarely in the chest.
But wait! If that doesn't make your head rotate on your neck a bit, Apple's next product move will make your head spin.
That's because Apple plans to release the third version of its beloved iPad around the holiday season — mere months after creating a frenzy with the iPad 2.
Are you scratching your heads? Well, so are we.
Sure, we're not going to look a gift higher resolution screen in the mouth. But who on earth can keep up with the Jobses anymore?
The thing is, with an iPhone 4 that's about to be rendered a pretty paperweight, and an iPad 2 that's going to look like a light tbulb needing changing next to the iPad 3, who can afford not to?
Sound off, technophiles. Will you be among the first to acquire the latest and greatest Apple gear when it's released this fall? Or do you give up already?
