    oxygen and chill

Houston's cozy new wellness club blends comfort with clinical-grade care

    Brianna McClane
    Mar 31, 2025 | 11:30 am

A new wellness purveyor has set up shop in Montrose to deliver exactly what its name promises — a shot of health.

Daily Dose Wellness Club at 1939 W. Gray Street hopes to improve its patrons' health through wellness tech therapies like hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) and sauna/cold-plunge contrast therapy. NAD therapy, customizable infusions, vitamin injections, and yoga and mat pilates classes round out the club’s offerings.

It joins an ever-expanding list of wellness-focused venues popping up around town: Luxe Yoga on Kirby Drive provides roomier-than-most yoga classes, along with amenities such as cold plunges and infrared-heated classes. Dallas-based Ritual One launched its newest infrared-heated fitness studio in Uptown Park, and Obsidian Flow is a soon-to-open Heights-based yoga studio that aims for ‘wellness and sophistication.'

And then, Daily Wellness partner and Black Swan Yoga co-owner Roland Keller also has two new projects in the works: the launch of Revival Pilates Studio and the newest Black Swan Yoga on Westheimer in Montrose.

In a city full of individuals searching for the next new way to be healthy, Daily Dose Wellness hopes to set itself apart by focusing on education, medical staffing, and the use of medical-grade supplies.

“We try to be very informational,” said Daisy Bennett, a Daily Dose co-founder and registered nurse. “A big part of what we're promoting is providing these evidence-backed services while also making sure our patients are getting the proper education on the services and really making sure that they understand it and how they can address their health prophylactically.”

The club’s monthly membership packages range from $145 to $415 and typically include a set number of therapies and group classes, along with discounts on add-on services. The services can also be shared among friends, which Daily Dose touts as ‘social self-care.’ Membership is not required to utilize Daily Dose, anyone can book an appointment.

Keller discovered the club’s space when walking on West Gray, after a long search for a suitable spot to bring Daily Dose to life with partners Bennett, Kayla Vernon, Keith Doyle, and Corbet Ellison. What was once a mortgage company has been transformed into an industrial but earthy space, where guests are encouraged to chat in the lounge area or relax in a plush chair behind privacy curtains while receiving a vitamin infusion.

“We originally thought we were going to be able to reuse a lot of what was existing here,” Keller said. “We ended up gutting it all the way down to the studs and just started completely from scratch.”

Medical-grade comfort is the goal. So, when a client climbs into a hyperbaric chamber to breathe in 100-percent oxygen at a higher pressure (to speed healing), they’ll find comfy pillows and a soft blanket to keep them cozy. Large windows stave off claustrophobia, a phone keeps the registered nurse (who is present the whole session) within easy contact, and a control panel lets the client control the temperature within the chamber.

Beyond its medical-grade hyperbaric oxygen therapy, the club also employs contrast therapy — an infrared sauna followed by a brisk cold plunge — to boost circulation, reduce inflammation, and leave patrons feeling energized. Education truly is key here, with handy guides that outline the benefits of the services and the before, during, and after steps for those new to the process.

The attention to detail continues to the customizable IV infusions. Providers work with clients to determine the best combination of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and amino acids based on that individual’s medical history and health goals.

“We tried to make everything feel a little bit more cozy and approachable, especially with the medical side,” Bennett said. “I think a lot of places feel like everything is white and blue and very clinical. We wanted to create an environment that speaks to the senses more. Something a little more inviting.”

Saks Off 5th to close 3 Houston stores with blowout final sale

Saks Off 5th is closing its only San Antonio store.

Houston shoppers looking for the thrill of the deal might want to mark their calendar. Discount designer retailer Saks Off 5th is closing most of its U.S. stores, including three in the Houston area, as its parent company tries to wiggle its way out of bankruptcy. Liquidation sales will begin Saturday, January 31 at select locations.

The mass closures come after Saks Global — the parent company of luxury department stores Saks 5th Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, and Neiman Marcus — filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protections on January 14. The conglomerate has been buckling under the strain of $2.5 million in debt it acquired with the 2024 purchase of rival retailer Neiman Marcus.

"As we advance on Saks Global's transformation, we are taking decisive steps to realign our business to better serve our luxury customers and drive full-price selling across our core luxury businesses," said Geoffroy van Raemdonck, Chief Executive Officer of Saks Global, in a release. "With these actions, we will be well positioned to seize the greatest opportunities for long-term growth and value creation. We sincerely thank our Saks Off 5th and Last Call colleagues for the important role they have played in serving our loyal customers."

Saks will close 57 Off 5th stores and shutter the five remaining locations of Neiman Marcus’ off-brand shop Last Call. Only 12 OFF 5th units will survive the move. After the onslaught, Texas’ sole store will be at Grapevine Mills mall in Grapevine.

Many of the U.S. stores will kick off closing sales beginning January 31. An additional 23 stores will close outright on February 2. Here’s the full list of Texas shutters:

Saks Off 5TH locations holding closing sales:

    • Cypress, 29300 Hempstead Rd.
    • Sugar Land, 2745 N Town Center Blvd.
    • Katy, 5000 Katy Mills Cir.
    • San Antonio, 5819 Worth Pkwy.

Saks Off 5TH locations closing February 2:

    • Grand Prairie, 2950 W. I-20 #125
    • Dallas, 8040 Park Ln.

Last Call Locations holding closing sales:

    • Grapevine, 3000 Grapevine Mills Pkwy. #233
    • San Marcos, 3939 S. I-35 #1105

The overall primary market for luxury goods has been declining in recent years due to changing customer preferences, a perceived decline in quality in top brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton, and a growing resale market led by sites like The RealReal and Vestaire Collective.
