Lela Rose creates stylish and colorful collection for plus-size women at Lane Bryant
Like most designers at New York fashion week, Lela Rose features wafer-thin models in her stylish clothes. But now the designer, who was born and raised in Dallas, is expanding her horizons.
Rose is designing a limited-edition collection line for Lane Bryant, named Lela Rose Exclusively for Lane Bryant, which will debut next summer. The collection starts at size 14 and includes Rose's signature watercolor prints, embellishments and handcrafted details.

Rose told Fashionista that the plus-sized customer doesn't really differ from any other customer — she simply wants to look her best.
"I asked the Lane Bryant team to give me some things their customer will do or won't do, and all they really said was, 'Our customer loves sleeves if you can offer that,'" Rose said. "I was like, oh my gosh, that's all I hear from our retailers — 'We want sleeves.'"
The collection includes pleated dresses in colorful prints, sharp tunic tops in yellow lace or bright pink shades, baby doll dresses with embellishment at the neck and sleeves and a cool looking trench.
Rose, whose clients range from first lady Michelle Obama to Kate Middleton, is the third designer to collaborate with Lane Bryant, following hip designers Sophie Theallet, who created a lingerie collection, Isabel Toledo, whose holiday collection is in stores now.
Rose has also done several low-cost shoe collections for Payless.
