    Where to Shop Right Now

Where to Shop Right Now: 10 fab stores that will jumpstart your holiday shopping

    Alexandria Williams
    Nov 21, 2016 | 10:20 am

For any fellow Houstonians who want to get a jumpstart on your holiday shopping, we’ve got you covered! The cooler weather is sure to rev up that jingle bell spirit, and a new pair of designer sunglasses or suede shoes can put anyone in a cheerful mood.

    Prada Baroque Eyewear Collection

Prada has relaunched its Minimal Baroque Eyewear Collection with a new twist. The iconic collection often worn by celebrities such as Rihanna and Beyoncé first went on the market in 2011. Now Prada is updating the widely celebrated statement piece with bold curves and creative craftsmanship — patterns of stylized plant life are abstracted into scrolling garlands that bud and branch into the defining curve of the elegantly exaggerated sunglasses. This inspired collection is now available at the Prada boutique in the Galleria.

    Eres

Eres luxury swimwear and lingerie line is bringing some sizzle to Houston. The European-based retailer has opened its sixth U.S. store — and first in Texas — in the River Oaks Shopping District. Launched in 1968, the brand was purchased by Chanel in 1998. The latest collection from Véronique Leroy examines the fine line between clothing and swimwear by highlighting structured outlines and creating a new range of colors exclusively for the brand.

    Faherty & Stag Outerwear

The hip menswear store Stag Provisions has teamed with contemporary clothing line Faherty to offer a new and exclusive collaboration just in time for the holidays. The three-piece holiday outerwear collection is inspired by vintage workwear, combining rugged canvas and super soft brushed cottons featuring camel blanket patterns and beacon print designs, available at the Stag Upper Kirby store.

    Talbot Cooley Home

Interior designer Talbot Cooley has recent opened a whimsical boutique that offers unique custom furniture, innovative lighting, artwork, and accessories. Many items are from Talbot Cooley’s custom line, along with vendors like Aerin Lighting, Barbara Cosgrove, Dayna Decker, Jonathan Adler, Palecek, Rab Labs, and Tizo Home. The store also offers full service design services that add personality and creativity to any space in your home or business.

    Joie

Contemporary fashion brand Joie, which has touted a concept of "casual, comfortable and luxurious," has open its first store in Houston at River Oaks District. Joie's chic understated designs are inspired by the Southern California lifestyle, with an emphasis on a casual, yet sophisticated, way of life and travel. In the past five years, it has emerged as a lifestyle brand, introducing shoes, handbags and a collection of T-shirts and sweaters called Soft Joie.

    Birch Modern Mercantile

Birch Modern Mercantile co-founders Shelley Kaplan and Katie Ingram have turned their shared passion for art, culture, style, travel, and wonder into a new store that offers a modern take on the general store, with an array of unique items from artisans and craftmakers. Birch carries gifts, jewelry, apothecary, pet goods and other items, with conscious brands ranging from staples like T-shirts and handbags to modern furniture from Marfa.

Verragio "Make It Yours" Engagement Ring Collection

With the majority of proposals occurring during the holiday season, it is only fitting that engagement ring designer Verragio has launched a “Make It Yours” campaign. The “Make It Yours” collection is offered online and in-store at Robbins Brothers in Houston. The innovative collection allows for couples to fully customize every part of the engagement ring. Buyers are able to select rings from Couture, Venetian, Parisian, and Insignia signature collections.

    John Hardy

Luxury jeweler John Hardy brings the Indonesian craftsmanship experience to Houston with its first stand-alone boutique in the United States. The River Oaks District boutique offers one one-of-a-kind artisan pieces that are creative and unique.

    Forty Five Ten

The hip Dallas luxury retailer has set is sights on Houston, with a new store in River Oaks District that opens November 23. The Houston store features Forty Five Ten's Rare Beauty Concept, with exclusive fragrance, color and treatment offerings, as well as ready-to-wear and accessories handpicked by women's fashion director Taylor Tomasi, a men's area merchandised by men's fashion director Nick Wooster, an Assouline book department, and a home area curated by home creative director Rob Dailey.

    Kiehl’s

Healthy skin is the new statement piece, so while shopping, it's also okay to take care of yourself, too. Celebrity make-up artists are emphasizing that glowing skin is just as important as the right shade of red lipstick. If you don’t know where to start, Kiehl's has got you covered. It has launched a new personalized service to insure that every individual has flawless skin. The new service, available at the Highland Village store, combines a comprehensive skincare consultation and analysis with new Kiehl’s formulas, allowing customers to walk away with products specially formulated for their most pressing skincare concerns.

Irish retailer Primark brings discount clothing to first Houston store

U.K. retailer Primark, brings its low priced, trend heavy fashion to the Houston market for the first time.

European import Primark is finally landing in the Houston area. Shoppers will be able to score budget-friendly finds at Katy Mills Mall when the fast-fashion giant, known for leaning into trend-forward clothing, opens its doors on Thursday, November 20.

The brand started in Dublin in 1969 under the name Penney's before switching to Primark to avoid competition with U.S. heavyweight J.C. Penny's as it expanded outside Ireland. Today, it operates in 11 countries with 470 stores worldwide, including over 175 in the United Kingdom. Its largest outpost in Birmingham is a massive 161,000 square feet covering five floors.

While the store can't compete with the U.K. version's size, coming in at 30,000 square feet, the prices more than make up for it. Shoppers can expect women's denim starting at $12, men's t-shirts at $5, and kids' sweatshirts at $8. For about the price of a family meal at the food court, shoppers can pull together looks for the whole crew. In terms of quality, price, and style, its biggest competitors are H&M and Zara.

The Katy opening is Primark's third Texas location, following McAllen and El Paso, and is part of the company's expansion across the United States. New stores are rolling out in Illinois and in Grapevine next month. In a statement, Primark U.S. President Kevin Tulip said, "These vibrant retail destinations in Texas reflect the incredible demand we're seeing across the country for affordability without sacrifice. As we continue to grow, we remain laser-focused on delivering unbeatable value and fashion that fits every family's lifestyle."

To celebrate the grand opening, Primark will offer a weekend of fun, family-friendly activities, including live music, giveaways, and delicious treats for early-bird arrivals. Shoppers will find a full mix of women's and men's fashion, kids' clothing, accessories, homeware, and beauty once the doors open at Katy Mills on November 20.
