Sarah McLachlan gives a local boutique a taste of fame
Just because Lilith Fair isn’t stopping in Houston, doesn’t mean Sarah McLachlan is staying away. McLachlan provided the soundtrack for many a break-up (remember Felicity?) and is at Verizon Wireless Theatre Tuesday night, supporting Laws of Illusion, her new album.
But before the show, McLachlan stopped at a local boutique perfectly suited to her upscale Bohemian taste.
Around 2 p.m., staff at Abejas Boutique were abuzz when McLachlan strolled in. Abejas' Ryan Zwicky says McLachlan was low-key and obviously trying to blend in.
“She was nice and was wearing a really cool cuff,” Zwicky says. “She was totally normal and was just walking around checking out Jo Ann Williams’ jewelry made from handmade crochet pieces and found objects.”
Dressed casually cool in a denim shirt, gray skinny jeans and flat boots, McLachlan also lingered over the Abejas Hobo bags. Zwicky says she has no idea how McLachlan even knows about Abejas, but it was a thrill to have her in the store.
“We always hope famous people will come in when they are in town and now someone finally did,” Zwicky says.
