Saturday debut
Store flipping: Contents in The Heights transforms into a Langford Market, quickas can be
Owner William Shoemaker has known for eight months that he wanted to transform his 19th Street boutique, Contents, into a Langford Market. The actual transformation took considerably less time, beginning last week and completed in time for a Saturday (re)opening.
Although Contents did good and consistent business, Shoemaker says he realized that Contents' sleek vibe didn't quite gel with the feel of 19th street's quirky boutiques, antiques stores and funky home goods and art galleries.
"Contents was geared more toward the 18-to-25-year-old age group, where Langford's true customer is 25 to 45," he tells CultureMap, adding that the new store will split its emphasis between clothing/accessories and home goods/furnishings.
Langford's PR rep says the flip is part of a larger look at the entire collection of stores, with one having just opened in Memorial City and another new one debuting recently in Austin. Langford Market also has stores in the Rice Village, San Antonio, New Orleans and at Memorial City Mall.
With re-purposed flooring from Chicago warehouses and custom fixtures, we can't wait to see the new space. The new Langford Market is located at 249 West 19th St.
