As a kid I was just old enough to miss out on the sneakers that lit up with every step, but young enough to watch my younger sister and brother play in them. But after years of coveting shoes that are also toys, science and fashion have finally combined to make footwear fun again.
Leave it to fashion darlings and sisters Laura and Kate Mulleavy — of the CFDA-award-winning Rodarte line — to come up with the answer. As Gizmodo notes, last month models on the Rodarte Fall 2010 runway walked in these trippy, Victoriana three-inch heels, complete with mysterious glowing orbs in the top of the heels. They have a prim-yet-spooky vibe, like they could be worn by either a fairy tale witch or Mary Poppins.
Move over, Chanel gun heels, these shoes are officially the most awesome thing worn south of your ankles.
