Michael Kors comes in from the cold with easygoing menswear collection
Look ma, no waistbands.
That's the attitude of Michael Kors' latest menswear collection, which debuted to the fashion press this week and will arrive in stores next fall. Kors features loads of sweats and body-hugging track pants in luxurious cashmere, suede and flannel fabrics — all with drawstring waists — that are made to lounge in and could give a new meaning to casual Fridays. There's hardly a traditional pair of belt-loop pants in sight.
Kors labels the collection "Big Sur meets Big City," mixing East Coast polish with a relaxed West Coast ease. Indeed, a tailored blazer is paired with track pants, an untucked white shirt and alpaca V-neck sweater while a navy officer's coat is casually thrown over gray sweats. A puffy "sleeping bag" coat and cardigans that are almost as big as bathrobes would be great to curl up in on a wintry day.
With Houston's recent cold temperatures, the collection's mohair turtlenecks, cashmere cable knit sweaters, double-breasted peacoats, heavy jackets with fur-lined hoods, slouchy wool caps and oversized scarves would come in handy, too.
And yes, in the world of Kors, you can wear socks with sandals.
