During shopping hours
Caught on tape: Video of Galleria jewelry store heist shows how brazen robberscan be
Jewel thieves were busy over the holidays. Following a "smash and grab" robbery at Hermés of Paris on Post Oak Boulevard and a foiled attempt to break into the Louis Vuitton store in The Galleria earlier in December, thieves conducted a brazen raid of the Ben Bridge jewelry store in The Galleria during holiday shopping hours on the Thursday night before Christmas.
A video released by police shows three masked burglars enter the store around 9 p.m. on Dec. 22, rush pass frightened shoppers, smash glass cases and escape with $355,000 in watches and jewelry. While they are stuffing bags with the merchandise, a store clerk can be seen reaching for the phone and presumably calling police. The thieves left through a nearby door into a waiting vehicle which sped away.
All in 37 seconds.
