UPDATE: Due to overwhelming fan demand, the Jonas Brothers are adding a second show at Toyota Center on Monday, October 23. That means they will now perform in Houston on Saturday, October 7 and Monday, October 23.

The band has also added a second show at Moody Center in Austin on Sunday, October 22.

This headline has been updated to reflect the news on Thursday, July 27.

    -----

The Jonas Brothers are launching their most ambitious tour yet, dubbed simply "The Tour," which will include a stop here at Toyota Center on Saturday, October 7.

On the massive 35-date stadium and arena run, starting on August 12 in The Bronx, New York, and finishing in Miami on October 14, the band will perform five albums every night. In addition to Houston, the JoBros will go to Arlington on August 30, Austin on September 3, and San Antonio on October 5.

The sibling trio and band is touting in support of their latest album, The Album, set for release on Friday, May 12. Although the press release about the tour does not specify which five of their six albums the Jonas Brothers will be performing at each concert, odds are that they will be the last five, as their 2006 debut album is by far their lowest-selling release to date.

As tickets for The Tour will likely be in high demand, the band will once again be using Ticketmaster's Verified Fan presale to give fans their best shot at tickets. Fans can register for the presale now through Saturday, May 6 at 10:59 pm. Fans who are selected to receive an access code will be able to participate in the Verified Fan presale starting Tuesday, May 9.

Citi cardmembers and Verizon customers will have additional presales beginning on Wednesday, May 10, with other presales running throughout the week. A limited number of tickets will be available during the general onsale which begins on Friday, May 12 at 10 am.

The tour will also offer a variety of different VIP packages and experiences, with packages including premium reserved tickets, invitation to the pre-show VIP Lounge, specially designed Jonas Brothers VIP gift items, and more.

    In Memoriam

Legendary Texas singer-songwriter Joe Ely dies at 78

Joe Ely was a major figure in Texas' progressive country scene.

Joe Ely, the legendary songwriter, singer and storyteller whose career spanned more than five decades, has died from complications related to Lewy Body Dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and pneumonia. He was 78.

In a statement posted to his Facebook page, Ely died at his home in Taos, New Mexico, with his wife, Sharon, and daughter, Marie, at his side.

Born February 9, 1947, in Amarillo, Texas, Ely was raised in Lubbock and became a central figure among a generation of influential West Texas musicians. He later settled in Austin, helping shape the city’s reputation as a hub for live music.

As with many local legends, it's hard to tease out what specifically made Ely's time in Austin so great; Austin treasures its live music staples, so being around and staying authentic from the early days is often the most important thing an artist can do.

Ely got his local start at One Knight Tavern, which later became Stubb's BBQ — the artist and the famous venue share a hometown of Lubbock. He alternated nights with emerging guitar great Stevie Ray Vaughn. He built his own recording studio in Dripping Springs, and kept close relationships with other Texas musicians. Later in his career, Ely brought fans into the live music experience, publishing excerpts from his journal and musings on the road in Bonfire of Roadmaps (2010), and was inducted into the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame in 2022. Austin blues icon Marcia Ball was among Ely's friends who played the induction show.

"Joe Ely performed American roots music with the fervor of a true believer who knew music could transport souls," said Kyle Young, CEO of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

In the 1970s, Ely signed with MCA Records, launching a career that included decades of recording and touring around the world. His work and performances left a lasting impact on the music scene and influenced a wide range of artists, including the Clash and Bruce Springsteen, according to Rolling Stone.

"His distinctive musical style could only have emerged from Texas, with its southwestern blend of honky-tonk, rock & roll, roadhouse blues, western swing, and conjunto. He began his career in the Flatlanders, with fellow Lubbock natives Jimmie Dale Gilmore and Butch Hancock, and he would mix their songs with his through 50 years of critically acclaimed recordings.
