Taylor Swift is H-Town Bound
Taylor Swift doesn't shake off Houston: Superstar singer adds special stop to concert tour
When CultureMap interviewed legendary concert promoter Louis Messina last week, he promised that Taylor Swift was working hard to add a Houston date to her new concert tour. "Houston presently is not on the schedule, but I'm desperately trying to fit in a date. Taylor loves playing Houston and it just didn't route and availabilities just didn't match up," Messina said.
Looks like he knew what he was talking about.
News broke late Wednesday afternoon that Swift has added a stop at Minute Maid Park on Oct. 13, 2015. American Express cardholders received an email that tickets for Swift's "The 1989 World Tour" Houston stop will go on sale Dec. 12 at noon through Dec. 18 at 10 p.m. Members of the TaylorSwift.com e-mail list will also have access to pre-sale tickets from Dec. 12 - 18.
Tickets for the general public will go on sale at 10 a.m. Dec. 19 on Ticketmaster.
Swift previously performed to a sell-out crowd of more than 40,000 at the baseball stadium in 2011. She last brought her tour to Houston in 2013 at Toyota Center.
Swift has some Houston ties, as he mother went to Memorial High School and her aunt lives here.
USA Today reports that the concert date could be moved if the Houston Astros, who call Minute Maid home, make the 2015 playoffs. That seems highly unlikely, since the 'Stros only won 70 games last season and were last in postseason play in 2005.
