Michelle Obama spent her Sunday meeting the King of Spain, while Jill Biden presumably geared up to watch her big acting debut on Army Wives.
Which doesn't mean they didn't have time to hate each other!
This is the gist of some new reports that have the First Lady bristling at the way the wacky vice president's wife allegedly disrespects her. "Michelle is furious at Jill for what she sees as her increasing behind-the-scenes lack of respect toward her," a White House insider allegedly told The National Enquirer.
"Michelle believes Jill doesn’t respect her," the insider continued. "What’s got her seething is that Jill doesn’t seem to treat Michelle with the reverence the first lady expects.
“And it drives Michelle crazy."
But wait there's more ... You need to throw in a nasty.
"The nasty feud that’s been simmering from day one of the Obama administration is only getting worse," the source said.
Now to dismiss this simply because it comes from The National Enquirer would be elitist and dumb. Ask John Edwards if the Enquirer ever breaks a political story and remember that the unraveling of Tiger Woods began with a TMZ report that golf writers initially desperately tried to dismiss for days.
The source doesn't stretch credibility as much as the people involved.
Does Michelle Obama strike you as someone who'd be obsessed with ceremony and doing things the traditional way? And Jill Biden is married to Joe Biden. Of course she's going to be a little out there. It's hard to imagine that Michelle Obama wouldn't have come to peace with that long ago.
The idea of these two being the new Paris and Nicole is a little much. You never really know anyone in the public eye, but it'd be disappointing if these two powerful women couldn't work together without such silly pettiness.
It'd be almost as bad as finding out that Erica Rose isn't going to end up practicing law (which of course, she is).
