New directions
After Houston Pavilions shutdown, Scott Gertner plans Skybar in new location
Even if GreenStreet, the downtown mixed-use development formerly known as Houston Pavilions, terminated a leasing agreement with Scott Gertner's at Houston Pavilions in favor of a more fitting rooftop tenant, the longtime Houston entertainer doesn't seem to harbor any resentment.
"Our Skybar concept and GreenStreet are taking new directions, and we wish them great success," Gertner wrote to CultureMap in an email on Monday.
The recent closure doesn't mean the end for the Skybar concept, either, which first rose from the ashes after alleged landlord neglect led the club to close its doors at 3400 Montrose, where it opened in 1999.
"Scott Gertner's Skybar at Houston Pavilions/Green Street is relocating to a soon to be announced location," he wrote, revealing that the team "has been scouting" for a replacement venue.
In the meantime, visitors can find the Scott Gertner Band every Saturday night at Scott Gertner's Sports Bar Live on Fountain View Drive near Richmond.
