Honey Badger Don't Care
The most fearless animal in the animal kingdom gets the TV treatment: HoneyBadger to dominate the small screen
It’s been a year since “The Crazy Nastyass Honey Badger” video was uploaded to YouTube and became an Internet sensation. The video has since been seen by more than 30 million viewers and has spawned its own book, several iPhone apps and even served as inspiration to the San Francisco 49ers. So, what could possibly be next for the honey badger?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, television is what’s next. Canadian production company Six Eleven Media is currently developing an animation/live-action comedy hybrid, titled Honey Badger U, and will be pitching the idea to networks soon.
Per the Hollywood Reporter, “The project will follow an animated Randall (the narrator), who is the chief professor of life sciences at a dysfunctional university. His course will feature his trademark color-commentary on documentary footage of topics related to science and the animal kingdom while forming an unusual bond with his student, fellow professors and the University mascot, 'Honey,' a 'nastya--' honey badger.”
It’s no guarantee that any network will actually give this project a chance, but seeing as how easily the fearless honey badger has been able to make headlines this past month, it surely wouldn’t come as a surprise.
If you can’t wait for the TV series to air, there are other avenues to get your honey badger fix. A brand new book from the narrator himself, titled Honey Badger Don't Care: Randall's Guide to Crazy Nasty Ass Animals, was released Jan. 24.
An iTunes application was also released earlier this month, where users can hear audio snippets from the video as well as get Honey Badger news. An official game version will be released soon, too.
Perhaps next premiere season we’ll be able to get our weekly honey badger fix, but we’ll just have to wait and see. One thing is for sure though: The honey badger don’t care about any of this.
