Ripa in Peace
Our Favre-orite picks to replace Regis Philbin
Somewhere, Kathie Lee is laughing into her spiked something. Ten years after the duo parted ways on Live!, Regis Philbin has announced his retirement from the reincarnated Live! With Regis and Kelly.
While Kathie Lee keeps harassing Hoda on the Today Show, 79-year-old Philbin is presumably hitting the golf course after more than 40 years in television. His co-host, Kelly Ripa, will reportedly be appointed a new partner. It'll never be the same without Reeg, but we have some suggestions for who should take up his coffee mug. Here are our top five:
No. 5: Mark Consuelos - Any excuse to see more of Ripa's hunky husband is reason enough for us.
No. 4: Howard Stern - The man has a gift for making his guests say too much, and for making them feel like their overshares are the most natural thing in the world. Really, we'd just like to see him interact with Ripa.
No. 3: Brett Favre - He's available! He's just retired himself (again) and is keen on making comebacks.
No. 2: Ricky Gervais - Fresh off his "hugely mean-spirited with mildly sinister undertones" hosting gig at the Golden Globes, we think Gervais would keep us guessing — and the ratings climbing.
