Legendary El Paso rockers (and The Mars Volta pre-cursor) At The Drive-Inannounce reunion on Twitter
It's a great day for Texas music fans: El Paso-based hardcore trailblazers At The Drive-In are back.
The band released their first studio album, Acrobatic Tenement, in 1996, and a follow-up, In/Casino Out, in 1998, but found their biggest fame with 2000's Relationship of Command, which featured the hit radio single "One Armed Scissor."
ATDI broke up in 2001 and members Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez formed The Mars Volta, while the rest of the group — Jim Ward, Paul Hinojos and Tony Hajjar — started the band Sparta (you may remember them from their Live at the Zona Rosa album, recorded in Austin).
The reunion announcement came today via a characteristically ambiguous Twitter post:

Both the song and the beautiful, haunting clip below depict the growing numbers of murders in bordertown Juarez, specifically a series of femicides that occurred close to the band's El Paso hometown:
