go for the gold
Houston Astros host totally golden overnight event for new, must-have World Series Championship gear
As diehard fans know, the Houston Astros made a splash over the weekend with a tease of glimmering new gold swag. The new gear is meant to commemorate last year's Astros World Series Championship (which seems like yesterday) and the start of the 2023 season — amazingly in just 10 days: Thursday, March 30.
That means fans who're ready to gear up — in gold — can head to the Union Station Team Store in Minute Maid Park starting at midnight Wednesday, March 22 for the Gold Rush event. Expect a long line for the new "Gold Program" gold-hued items from New Era and Nike — which will go perfectly for Opening Day and the following day, Ring Day, on Friday, March 31.
As expected, our Astros will sport those Gold Program jerseys on both Opening Day and Ring Day.
More than just a simple shopping event, the Gold Rush event promises several special activities, with the Union Station Team Store hosting photo opps with the 2017 and 2022 World Series trophies, fan fave mascot Orbit, the Astros Coca-Cola Shooting Stars, a live DJ, and more.
Since super-early shopping can work up an appetite, Aramark will serve breakfast for patrons from 5 am to 8 am (or while supplies last) during the March 22 event.
Sure to be a red-hot item, the Jostens 2022 Astros Championship Limited Edition Fan Ring will be available for purchase from 9 am to 5 pm during the Gold Rush event. Importantly, fans must buy the ring sight unseen, as it won't be officially unveiled until Ring Day (March 31) when the players receive their rings. (Somehow, we don't anticipate that being a problem for diehard fans.)
Those interested can get more Gold Rush details at the team's official event site.
