Big Dogs, Big Love
Big dogs are only $10 to adopt at Houston SPCA this summer
When you're ready to adopt a dog, consider welcoming a big pup into your home. Not only are large-sized dogs a great security enhancement, but they excel at being running partners, couch snugglers, and nap buddies.
There are currently six large dogs at the Houston SPCA that have collectively spent the last 344 days (and counting) waiting for the right owner to come find them.
Through August 31, during the Big Dog Days of Summer event, all large dogs are deemed VIP (Very Important Pup) and come with a $10 adoption package.
Included in that package are a veterinary exam with up-to-date vaccinations, microchip, spay or neuter surgery; free post-adoption exam at any VCA Animal Hospital; and a free sample bag of Hill’s Science Diet food.
Here are some of the large, lovable dogs currently available for adoption:
Joel: The two-year-old Lab mix was rescued by a Houston SPCA animal cruelty investigator. Joel's a favorite among the volunteers and is an eager learner — he already knows how to "sit."
Austin: The one-year-old Shepherd mix is a 60-pound hunk of love who volunteers say is smart and willing to be trained.
Freya: The two-year-old Husky-Shepherd mix is a Critter Camp favorite. She spends part of her days playing with kids until she can find her forever home.
Stitch: The good-natured 11-month-old German shepherd mix was injured when he came into the care of the Houston SPCA. He’s in great shape now and patiently waiting for his new family.
Keanu: The three-year-old Lab mix enjoys people and pets, turns drinking water into playtime, and fearlessly lives life to the fullest.
Cowboy: Give this handsome four-year-old Shepherd mix the love and attention he deserves, and he will give you plenty right back.
