Celebrate safely
Cheers to a designated driver: METRO to offer free service on New Year's Eve
You've got more New Year's Eve invites than time to celebrate, and — let's be honest — they all involve some bubbly. You know better than to drive yourself around.
Rather than wait hours for a cab or depend upon an underage sibling to shuttle you around, why not take advantage of Houston's extensive METRO system?
From 6 p.m. on Monday through 6 a.m. on Tuesday, the transit agency will offer free rides on both the bus and light rail system (though the trains stop running at 2 a.m.). That means you don't even have to dig in the couch for coins!
So toast to a happy and healthy 2013, dance the night away and depend on public transit to be your designated driver.
METRO will run a normal weekday schedule on New Year's Eve but will run a Sunday schedule on New Year's Day. Find more information here.
