George W. Bush pulled into a ridiculous voting hoax
Don't believe everything you read on a fake news website, folks.
The blogosphere was all abuzz earlier this election week with an outrageous story of George W. Bush voting for Barack Obama — a reminder of those halcyon pre-recession days when the American president could put a smile on our faces just by saying "nucular." Prominent political blog Daily Kos reported the Bush vote for Obama as real news — as did several others.
Well, the Internet got egg on its servers this week after MSN revealed that the seemingly made-up tale was, in fact, made up by political satire site called The Daily Currant. (Like the little raisins, get it?)
The article "reports" that at a polling station near Crawford, Bush accidently ticked the Obama box on his voting machine. Hoping to discard the ballot, the former president said he simply pressed the red "cast vote" to "cast away" his mistake and start from scratch. Sadly, those by-the-book election officials refused to give him a do-over.
"Usually red means stop and green means go. I thought I was stopping," he told Suzanna Everett, a fake political reporter with the equally fake Waco Times.
"First of all, everything was very mismaladjusted on the screen. You shouldn't put the senators and the congresspeople and the presidents all jumbled together like that. It's too crowded. Just confuses folks."
So true, W. . . so true.
