Person seen leaving the latest George Bush wildfire arrested by HFD arson unit, charged with a felony
The second wildfire to hit George Bush Park in West Houston in three days has brought about felony charges. The Houston Fire Department's arson bureau has charged 28-year-old Lonnie Ray Henderson with impersonating a public servant.
Henderson was seen leaving the scene of the second George Bush Park wildfire and HFD continues to classify him as "a person of interest" in the fire itself. After arson investigators questioned Henderson, they arrested him on the impersonating a public servant charge.
Impersonating a public servant is a third-degree felony in Texas. A conviction brings a minimum two-year prison sentence, with a maximum of 10 years. Under Texas law, a person is guilty of impersonating a public servant when they:
- Impersonate a public servant with the intention of getting another person to submit to their pretended official authority.
- Knowingly exercises any function of a public servant without actually having the legal authority to do so.
