Dallas gets top honors, but Houston is popular on new fastest growing companieslist
Inc. magazine has released its 29th annual list of the world's 500 fastest-growing companies, and a Texas company took top honors. (Inc.'s list is not to be confused with Fortune's recent list of the world's 100 fastest-growing companies, which named only one, entirely different, Houston company).
Unfortunately, the grand-prize winner is based in Dallas. Dallas-based Ambit Energy reported 20,369 percent growth, and was the only Texas company to make the Top 10. But Houston still made a good showing with nine companies on the illustrious list: TechRadium (No. 38), GlobaLogix (No. 60), Employer Flexible (No. 76), Psychological Software Solutions (No. 115), PetRays (No. 133), Integrated Secure (No. 201), SightLine Health (No. 241), Remedy Roofing (No. 365), and eCardio Diagnostics (No. 435).
The magazine tracked revenues over a three-year period, and said companies this year made a smaller total revenue, but grew faster. Most ubiquitous on the list, oddly, were advertising and marketing firms — industries we assumed were hit hard by the recession, while the fastest growing companies provided innovative computer hardware.
What about software? Can't we get a little love for our iPhone app?
