Bush 41 Shaves Head
Bald is beautiful: George H.W. Bush shaves head in support of young cancer patient
Bald is beautiful, particularly when there is a noble mission behind the move to shed one's locks. Just ask former President George H.W. Bush, who joined members of his Secret Service team by shaving his head in support of a team member's 2-year-old son who has lost his hair during treatment for leukemia.
Summering at his vacation home in Kennebunkport, Maine, the former commander-in-chief couldn't help but applaud his security detail, most of whom had gone under the razor in honor of young Patrick. So as a father who lost a 3-year-old daughter to leukemia 60 years ago, he personally embraced the hairless look.
The former president and Barbara Bush joined the "Patrick's Pals" effort by making a donation to the fund that the Bush Protective Division established to help the family with medical bills. In addition, the Secret Service agents have organized Patrick's Pals Motorcycle Benefit Run early next month. The 50-mile ride through the Maine countryside will be followed by a lunch and silent auction to raise funds for the young fellow's treatments.
