Pet of the Week
Meet Gigi, the bouncy brindle mix, CultureMap's pet of the week
Name: Gigi, as in supermodel Gigi Hadid, fashionista Gigi McQuarrie, TV anchor Gigi Stone, and the movie classic, Gigi.
Birthdate: April 27, 2018. Gigi is a bouncy, brindle bundle of energy.
Ethnicity: This girl is quite the mix: Citizens for Animal Protection, where she currently resides, lists her as part Dachshund, miniature smooth-haired terrier, American Staffordshire, and brindle.
Sweet and effervescent Gigi originally came to CAP as a stray and was quickly adopted. Sadly, she was returned a few months later because she destroyed shoes. CAP staff surmises that she was allowed to freely roam the house during the day and her owners didn't put their shoes in a closet.
Gigi, being young, loves to chew — so everything is fair game (especially shoes that smell like her owners). She is very active and enjoys car rides, running, tugging, toys, water, and walks. She is well behaved on a leash. She is easygoing, friendly, playful with children, and loves to be petted.
This smart youngster knows the "sit" and "no" commands. She hasn't been exposed to many dogs, so potential owners should introduce her to current pets. (Her original rescuer reports that she might not behave well around big dogs.) She is not completely house trained but is young enough to learn. Gigi is very affectionate, loving, and especially enjoys snuggling.
Come and get me: Gigi is available for adoption at 11 am Friday, July 12, at Citizens for Animal Protection (17555 Katy Freeway; 281-497-0591). Tell them, "Ken sent me."
