GMA in H-town
Houston native Michael Strahan hosts Good Morning America live in downtown
Summer in major network television is all about ratings grabs — and that means sometimes taking the show on the road. Case in point: Good Morning America is bringing its popular show to the Bayou City on Wednesday, July 10.
In a recent GMAtease segment, host Michael Strahan revealed H-Town as the destination of the show’s Summer Road Trip tour. “We’re going to my hometown of Houston, Texas!” he declared. He then regaled his co-hosts with plates of barbecue from local spot Demeris Bar-B-Q, noting that the restaurant is owned by his former high school teammate’s family.
The GMA show will broadcast from Discovery Green, with Strahan and co-hosts Lara Spencer and Ginger Zee leading the show from 5-8 am. Houstonians who’d like to take part can attend for free; tickets are required and can be requested via this website.
Local sports fans will recall that Strahan was a stud football prospect when he attended Westbury High School and later Texas Southern University. Long before he became an amiable TV host, the fierce, six-foot-five Strahan became the NFL’s single-season sack leader in 2001 and a Super Bowl champion.
No doubt, the jovial Strahan will delight in those gridiron tales with his hometown crowd on July 10 (and of course, talk some ’cue).
